L2 activity 1: Wedge turns

Integrated · easy green, slow · linked medium turns in a gliding wedge; turn shape controls speed. Switch to the mistake to see what changes in the body and muscles when the wedge grows to brake. Drag the large view to orbit.

What the examiner looks for

Passing · The wedge width never changes; skidded tracks; the body’s center travels between the feet; tall, relaxed athletic stance.

Cue · “Steer both feet, keep the pizza the same size.”

Lead-ups · Straight-run glide wedge to wedge to glide; wedge turns with hands on knees to feel both legs turning.

Mistake · The wedge grows to brake: watch the wedge angle jump at the fall line, both edges tip higher, the body sits back, and the quads and adductors stay maxed.

Fix · Slow down with turn shape (finish across the hill), not with wedge size.

A simplified, illustrative model. The right way holds a matching wedge on inside edges and steers mainly by turning the legs; the mistake grows the wedge at the fall line to brake. Angles, loads and efforts follow the shape of real technique but are not measured data.
