L2 activity 5: Stork turns
Individual · green / gentle blue · large turns on the outside ski only: the inside ski's tip stays on the snow with its tail lifted, while the outside ski bends and brushes. Switch to the mistake to see why leaning in drops the inside ski. Drag the large view to orbit.

What the examiner looks for
Passing · Large turns on the outside ski only; inside ski tip on the snow, tail lifted; the outside ski bends and brushes.
Cue · “Lift the tail, balance on the arch.”
Key movement · The inside leg folding at the knee and ankle to lift the tail; the outside ankle tipping. Watch the lifted-ski height and the inside knee angle.
Lead-ups · Traverse on the downhill ski; stork garlands.
Mistake · Leaning in or swinging the upper body to turn: the balance falls inside the outside ski, so the inside ski has to come down to catch it.
Fix · Turn the leg under a quiet chest; tip the outside ankle.
A simplified, illustrative model on the same turn model: the right way stands on the outside ski alone (all the weight), both skis touch briefly at the edge change to switch feet, and the inside ski's tail lifts about 5 cm with its tip on the snow; in the mistake the whole body leans in and the inside ski drops to the snow mid-turn. Angles, loads and efforts follow the shape of real technique but are not measured data.
